The United Nations Association – Ghana has membership drawn from all the regions of Ghana. We are calling on all peace-loving, humanitarian, and development-oriented individuals to join the United Nations Association-Ghana, irrespective of their sex, race, creed, religion, and political inclination.

Many join the United Nations Association of Ghana (UNA-GH) for various reasons. Before you make a decision to join UNA-GH, it is important to clarify your motives, they MUST align with the following:

> To be motivated in the spirit of  humanitarianism and volunteerism and NOT by monetary gains as you join UNA-GH.

> To be selfless and to  seek the interest of the poor and marginalized.

> To be a peace ambassador, and to respect and accept other people irrespective of their sex, race, culture, religion, etc.

> To be a good citizen, and to serve as a role model to society.

> To be convicted by the desire to be part of a process of positive social change.

> By joining the United Nations Association of Ghana, you agree to unconditionally volunteer your time, expertise, money, and any other resources to help promote the activities of the Association to achieve its mission and vision.

The United Nations Association -Ghana is one of over100 United Nations Associations ( UNA ) that exist in various UN member states/countries working to enhance the relationship between the people of member states and the United Nations to raise public awareness of the UN and its work, to promote the general goals of the UN.

All United Nations Associations (UNAs) are membership-based, non-profit, and non-political organizations. They are guided by the vision of the United Nations in meeting common global challenges and opportunities.

BENEFITS OF BEING AN EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF UNA-GH:

If you apply, and you are successfully selected/appointed, you will be sworn into office as an Executive Officer of the United Nations Association -Ghana. You will be serving as a volunteer (not full-time) in that portfolio. Though this may not come with any direct monetary rewards, it will open many immeasurable opportunities for you.

  • Regional Executive Officers work directly under the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the United Nations Association. They (Regional Officers)have oversight responsibility for all the District Branches of UNA-GH in the regions. They are mandated to implement and oversee all UN-funded projects, programs, and UN commemorative events in their respective regions.
  • District Executive Officers work directly under the Regional Executive. They (District Executive Officers) have oversight responsibility for all the Area Branches of UNA-GH in the Districts. They are mandated to implement and oversee all UN-funded projects, programs, and UN commemorative events in their respective Districts.
  • As an Executive Officer of the United Nations Association of Ghana, you have the privilege to engage with Regional Ministers, Regional Security Officials, Regional Traditional Council, District Chief Executives, and other high profile personalities in your region or district to address issues of national concern.
  • You have the privilege and bragging right to use the UN emblem/logo which cannot be used by just any person except a member of the UN fraternity.
  • You may also have the opportunity to participate in UN-sponsored conferences in Ghana and abroad.
  • Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in UN-sponsored training programs and be part of UN initiatives in your region or district among other opportunities.

The annual Membership Fee GHC 165.00 this must be paid to confirm your membership with the United Nations Association of Ghana

ALL UNAs COLLECT MEMBERS  MEMBERSHIP FEE

1. All United Nations Associations ( UNA ) are membership base organization. These are recognized Civil Society organizations for each member states of the UN and they are recognized by the United Nations to champion the course of the UN.

2. Any person or organization that wishes to join/affiliate with the United Nations Association – Ghana is required to pay  annual membership dues/fees. Collection of membership or application fees are part of the funding sources for effective running of the Association, administratively.

3. All United Nations Associations (UNAs) also pay their annual membership dues to the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) the umbrella body for UNAs.

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is the only global organization with the primary mission of supporting the principles and purposes of the United Nations. WFUNA represents and coordinates a membership of over 100 national United Nations Associations (UNAs).

Every UN member state has only one United Nations Association (UNA) which must be affiliated with WFUNA, hence UNA-GH remains the only recognized and legitimate UN Association in Ghana.

UNA-GH has undertaken various programs and projects to promote the UN agenda through its established wings, namely the United Nations Youth Association (UNYA-GH), and the United Nations Association of Ghana Commission for Women and Children’s Affairs (UNACWCA), and the United Nations Association Artisans Project (UNAAP).
